The complete course
Twain’s essential journey and enduring characters remain the foundation.
The Finn Dynasty • Book One
The Finn Edition
A great book is still alive. This edition returns to Twain’s river, preserves the essential course of Huck and Jim’s journey, and creates a substantially new novel around, between and beyond it.
William Ochs • incorporating the original work of Mark Twain
Kindle and retail paperback editions are available through Amazon. Hardcovers are fulfilled for Donegal Studio by Lulu.
Huck still takes to the river. Jim still travels beside him. The wreck, the feud, the duke and the king, the Wilks family, the Phelps farm and Tom Sawyer’s magnificently ridiculous rescue scheme remain part of the journey.
The Finn Edition expands scenes, develops transitions, gives characters more room to breathe and introduces new material—including another narrative thread moving quietly through Huck’s story.
Roughly two-thirds of the finished text is newly written. The result is not a replacement for Twain’s novel, but a new work created in serious conversation with it.
Twain’s essential journey and enduring characters remain the foundation.
New scenes, dialogue, characters, transitions and framing make this a substantially new novel.
A quiet new thread opens the first door into the larger Finn Dynasty.
